This web site is an effort to collect and publish our family history.  It started with capturing members in a family tree.

The goal is to have all of Jack Pickett Woods’ descendants displayed in the family tree.  This will be an ongoing effort, with the help of all family members.

Most of the information in the tree was established by “word of mouth” from family; some facts have been discovered through researching data from Ancestry.com.

We, as African Americans, aren’t always able to trace our ancestors and history back more than a few generations.  So, it’s important for families to share stories and information; then document those stories for our children and their children, into the future.

• We start with Jack Pickett Woods because we know who his children were
• We know he had about 20 children from at least three unions
• We know he was the son of David (Davy) Pickett Woods and Kittie Woods
• We also know, from census records, that he had a sister named Katy and a brother named Henry
